6th Sunday after Pentecost, July 21

Welcome and Announcements

  • Prelude Leibster Jesu arr. By M. Reger
  • Call to Worship
    • There are different gifts,
    • But it is the same spirit who gives them.
    • There are different ways of serving God,
    • But it is the same Lord who is served.
    • Together we are the body of Christ,
    • And individually members of him.
    • The Son of Man came not to be served,
    • But to give his life to set others free.
  • *Hymn # 61 Oh come and sing unto the Lord
  • Time for the Young and Young at Heart
  • Lesson from Amos 8:1-12
    • The word of the Lord/ Thanks be to God
  • Unison Prayer of Confession
    • In the mirror we call scripture, we see ourselves for who we are and are not. We fret about those who are not doing what we think they should and ignore our own failings. We speak words of conflict and accusation, which tear away at others. Forgive us. Calm our frantic pace, so we may learn the balanced life You intend for us. Empower us to set aside our grudges, stop licking at our hurts, and begin to bring healing to others; even as we have been welcomed into Your heart through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
  • Declaration of Forgiveness
    • Christ Jesus comes to recreate us in God’s image, so that we are made whole.
    • When we are in Christ, everything becomes new. Our past is just that – our past!
    • Do you really believe this – that your past is done, and you are a new person? If so, go out and reflect it in your life.
    • Thanks be to God! We have been made free and forgiven of all that has held us captive. Amen.
  • *Hymn # 377 Come, children, join to sing
