    • The child born is called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
    • But where are the wreaths, the Advent Pageant, the Community Hymn Sing and the cold, drizzling rain?
    • Angels, Magi and the shepherds, a star, a manger and unlikely gifts for a newborn call us to an Eternal message, irrespective of day and date…
    • “Come to us, abide with us, Our Lord, Emmanuel” _– now and always we pray.

    • Loving God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed: we have not loved you with all our heart or served you with all our strength; we have been blind to the vision of a renewed world and deaf to your call to costly discipleship; we have been indifferent to the suffering of others and unwilling to forgive one another. In your mercy, Lord, pardon and restore us, that together in the ministry of Christ we may serve you with joy all the days of our life. Amen.

We Listen for Christ’s Voice

  • Prayer for Illumination
  • Loving Spirit, who hovered over the waters at creation’s beginning, who opened the starry sky in order to fill a manger with new life, and who surprised follower and foe alike when a certain crucifixion turned into a surprising resurrection, open our hearts and minds, so that we may hear Your Word of life and be renewed. We pray in Christ.Amen.
