“Rest. Rest. Rest in God’s love. The only work you are required now to do is give your most intense attention to His still, small voice within.” ~ Madame Jeanne Guyon
Through the prayer of rest, God invites us into the eye of the storm. There we can stop our striving, and simply trust that God is God, and we are not. We remember that prayer is not dependent on us, but we do have a part to play. Three ancient acts aid in this: solitude, silencio and recollection. Through solitude, we simply our life. Through silencio we practice giving up our need to control others and the world. Through recollection, focus our heart and mind. Through nurturing these acts, we find ourselves letting go of the hard work of prayer, instead resting in the God who is already with us.
